GUARD FORCE QUALITY
Limited employability of the workforce has been a contributing factor to the challenge of unemployment in Nigeria, for so many reasons. One major reason is the fact that young people (graduates and non-graduates alike) don’t have opportunities for training to the level of skill required for in the world of work. Most times, the training that is being provided is not tuned to current labour market needs and there is very little institutionalized guidance or counseling to help young people into jobs. Apart from this, the training system and technical vocational institutions curriculum are obsolete and do not reflect current market realities while what is provided in terms of training is not underpinned by the necessary frameworks (certification, apprenticeship, etc.).
With this reality in focus, we at CROWNHAWK take the time to ensure that we screen and conduct pre-employment background checks on our guards before they are employed. We go to great lengths to get at least, 2 credible guarantors for each of our guards. Psychological interviews and medical tests are also conducted before employment and from time to time during guard service to prevent the employment of questionable characters and drug users in the guard force. Prior to the commencement of a contract with your good selves, CROWNHHAWK Express Security will provide you with the full applicant dossier including an investigation conducted on each proposed security staff.
TRAINING
Security guards are bound to encounter dangerous, unpredictable, and stressful situations throughout their careers. Their training, therefore, must include the development of skills that prepare them to identify signs of a threat, suspicious behaviors, and body language that could indicate an impending security situation. Consequently, CROWNHAWK conducts realistic training for its guards aimed at meet their various mission requirements. A basic and orientation training is usually conducted pre-deployment, and on-the-job trainings are also regularly conducted by visiting supervisors at appropriate times while in their various beats. Guards are also scheduled to attend central trainings from time to time at designated venues.
Areas covered in the trainings include basic security procedures, access control and perimeter security, patrolling techniques and surveillance methods, radio voice communication and communication skills, inventory management, loss prevention, report writing, public relations, emergency response procedures, health and safety, use of force, post orders, rules and regulations, first aid, career prospects and development amongst others.

CROWNHAWK provides supervisory personnel that are assigned to cover all of its locations. These supervisors insure strict adherence to our general orders and our clients’ rules, regulations and ordinances. They act as liaison between CROWNHAWK and our clients. The supervisors are on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days per year for your convenience and will regularly make spot checks to prevent issues of complacency.
CROWNHAWK Express Security Ltd has functional mobile phones in all its locations on a Closed User Group (CUG) basis. The phones are usually held by the Beat Supervisor or the most senior guard in the particular location. The CUG phones enables easy communications between and amongst management and staff at discounted rates, hence delivering convenience and cost savings for our multi-user environment.
Depending on the need of particular locations, CROWNHAWK also equips security guards with two-way handheld radios or equivalent to ensure constant close communication within a security beat team. The company also administers a WhatsApp group to facilitate speedy communications between the field supervisors, management team and operations manager.
As regards emergencies and associated responses, the training conducted by CROWNHAWK for its guards takes into consideration the kinds of hazards, disasters and emergencies that could occur in a typical work place environment and possible responses to such emergencies. Emergencies that could occur in particular work place environments are also considered and training geared towards appropriate responses are conducted. In the light of the foregoing, trainings are conducted for handling emergencies such as Fire outbreaks, alarms, intruder actions and other high-pressure situations.
CROWNHAWK guards are mainly taught about the crucial role they play in ensuring the safety and security of people and property during an emergency. These roles include:
- Alerting authorities: Security guards are often the first responders during an emergency situation. They may be responsible for alerting the authorities and coordinating with emergency responders, such as police or fire departments.
- Evacuation: In the event of a fire, natural disaster, or other emergency, security guards may help evacuate people from the affected area. They may direct people to the nearest exits, assist people with disabilities, and ensure that everyone evacuates safely.
- Crowd control: During an emergency, people may become panicked or disoriented, which can lead to chaos and confusion. Security guards can help maintain order by controlling crowds, ensuring that people move in an orderly fashion, and preventing any unauthorized access to the area.
- Security: Even during an emergency, security guards are responsible for protecting people and property. They may be called upon to secure the perimeter of the affected area, monitor the situation for any potential threats, and prevent looting or other criminal activity.
- Communication: Security guards may also be responsible for communicating information to those affected by the emergency. This could include providing updates on the situation, relaying instructions from emergency responders, and answering questions from concerned individuals.
The guards are also taught about how to write well organized and appropriately detailed incident reports, as well as how to follow-up after incidents or situations must have resolved. In addition, CROWNHAWK encourages clients to participate in well-rehearsed emergency response drills, in in an effort to proactively prevent or better respond to typical emergency situations.
CROWNHAWK also maintains a functional directory on a network of military, police, civil defence, fire service, NEMA and other important emergency responders’ staff and establishments to facilitate the ease of responding to escalated emergencies experienced by our clientele. This is more so as the MD/CEO is a retired Major General of the Nigerian Army.
By and large, every organisation is different and faces unique security challenges. But one thing is consistent across all jobs, and that is the importance of knowing how to professionally handle stressful situations. CROWNHAWK guards are trained to respond in any kind of emergencies. However, their role in a certain emergency situation is often determined by their client or employer. This is one of the main things that would be discussed and documented if a contract is awarded.
We at CrownHawk are confident that working together with you, we can customize a security programme that is sure to address the specific needs of your facilities. This will ensure that your facilities receive the highest possible level of service and safety. We are therefore poised to offer you excellent service, as we look forward to a favourable consideration of this proposal.
